Play With Your Food.
A friend and I did this project when I lived in LA in 2017 and was one of the projects that got me interested in pursuing graphic design as a career.
We wanted to experiment with the juxtaposition of fresh veggies verse canned veggies with a call to action encouraging eating fresh veggies rather than canned. Some questions I asked myself were, “Is it the convenience of the can, or is it something else? Would people eat fresh veggies from a can if they were as convenient? Because green represents life and freshness, I wanted to keep a green color palette throughout using different tones and shades, highlighting the different textures.
At this time I didn’t have any previous knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, or even InDesign, however with a lot of time, trial, and error I figured it out. I learned how much work can actually go into graphic design work. This was a very hands-on project. I cut all the veggies and took pictures of each one. Then photoshopped out the backgrounds to layer, stack, and create the composition we liked and worked on.
